Rodney McKay loves his Job, he's an Astrophysicist, respected in his field, and working at Area 51. After a night with Friends, and while heading home, Rodney's mugged, or at least someone tries to mug him, a man comes to his rescue, fighting off the Muggers, and that man is John Sheppard. Shaken but okay, Rodney goes Home, but can't get John out of his head. He sets about finding more, or anything about him, learning that he's an Ex Air Force Major, and then sets about tracking him down.
Plot bunny for adoption. Product of copious lurking. Does exactly what it says on the tin. I was inspired by a vid that shows Gibbs smacking his team round the head, and a clip of John doing the same to Rodney, but I've never actually seen an episode of NCIS so I'm sending out the challenge. Almost anything goes, but a head smacking scene/referance would be nice. You could try; *Gibbs similarity to Sheppard *Gibbs relationship with Jenny Shepard and the miniscule spelling difference. *Cynthia Sumner and Col. Sumner *NCIS investigations leading them into the Atlantis expedition or "bluebook project" marine corps
During his first year in the Air Force, the young and naive John Sheppard is propositioned by his C/O, and not feeling able to turn him down, begins sleeping with him. Somehow it's discovered, and John is Outed, despite the fact that he's actually Straight, but that doesn't stop him from being drummed out of the Service. However his C/O's involvement was never discovered, and with nowhere else to go, he takes John in, and for 10 years, John has been kept, as the now General's dirty little secret. He has no Life of his own, no friends, and is expected to cook, clean, and put out, he's always explained away being the General's Nephew, but he's the butt of a lot of jokes, and John hates the General so bitterly for the way that his Life has turned out. John is determined to get away from the General, and has been secretly attending University to get the Doctorates and PhD's, that he was never able to through the Air Force. One Rodney McKay is on a Lecture Tour at John's University, and he makes John laugh, something that he hasn't done that, they begin spending time together; and John gets his first friendship in 10 years. Rodney is working on Government Projects, and what neither of them know is that involves the red tape of having dinner with a certain General, something that is very awkward for them both during the evening, and after Rodney leaves, John and the General get into an argument, and the General tries to force himself on John, who for the first time, fights back, and it's also the first time that the General admits that he Outed John in order to get him thrown out of the Air Force. John leaves, going to the only person that he can of to go to, Rodney.
As Teenagers, John and Rodney were the Best of Friends, but what no one else knew was that they were also Lovers, but John broke Rodney's heart by joining the Air Force and leaving, without even telling Rodney what he was doing. John had 2 choices in how his Life turned out, he wanted to Fly, and Joining the Air Force would let him do that. He was in a unique position, to Marry a General's Daughter, almost through arrangement, a Woman he not only didn't Love, but didn't Like; or even find attractive. Or to admit to his Family that he was Gay, that he wanted to be with Rodney, the man he Loved, but couldn't bring himself to actually be with. John chose the outwardly easy option, something that has torn him apart through years of Marriage, but he's now Lt. Colonel, his Parents are dead, he and his Wife are estranged, and Divorce would be academic. He hasn't seen Rodney since he was a Teenager, but wants to try and find him. John knows that's it too late for them, he still Loves Rodney as much as he ever did, maybe more, but has to at least try to set things right. Rodney McKay works for the US Government, and John sets about trying to track him down.
The IOA pushes Atlantis too far and the expedition cuts themselves off from earth. The Daedalus crew follow's Atlantisís example as have the SGC. Set in seasons 2 or 3. Have everything work better without the IOA or the ties on earth. Asgard must appear.
John Sheppard has been escorted back to Earth, under arrest, and is being Court-martialled for having a Homosexual Relationship, the details of which aren't being made public. Despite Dr. Weir's best efforts, and argument that any such relationship should be excused for the good of the Atlantis Mission has been ignored, and John is to be Triad as if any other Officer in the US Military. Atlantis Personnel have travelled to testify for John, Rodney included, and who is absolutely livid that this is happening, he and John are Best Friends, and he doesn't know anything about this supposed Relationship. I mean, if any Guy were going to be with John, then it would be Rodney, but he never has been, and as close as they are, would either of them even want that? If John is found Guilty, he'll face a minimum of a Dishonourable Discharge, and a maximum of Prison, either wouldn't allow him to return to Atlantis, even as a Civilian, as the IOA wouldn't agree to someone with that that history, despite how valuable they might be. Talking to John in Custody, he wonders if there even was a Relationship, but is determined to find out the truth, if there was a Relationship, or is John has been framed, and then do whatever it takes to get John found Not Guilty, even if is means getting "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" finally abolished.
Sheppard has just seen McKay killed in front of him, he can't believe that it's just happened, and even visiting Rodney's body in the Infirmary doesn't make it real to him. Someone has to sort through Rodney's personal effects, and it's not fair the bring Rodney's sister to Atlantis, just to do that. John decides that it's something that he should do, as well as breaking the news of Rodney's death to Jeanne personally. During the journey to visit Jeannie, John reads Rodney's journal, and although he doesn't come out and say it, the way that Rodney writes about John, and they way that John feels about reading it, he knows that they had been in Love. Talking to Jeannie about Rodney, it's John that breaks down, admitting to himself what he couldn't when Rodney was alive. Now on the journey back to Atlantis, John knows that he can't do this without Rodney, he doesn't want to, and he's desperate to find a way to bring him back. SG-1 have brought people back from edge before, and even changed history, and John is willing to do whatever it takes to get Rodney back.
The worst thing that ever happened to John Sheppard, even taking into account his time in Afghanistan and the Pegasus Galaxy, happened when he was in his 20's, when along with his so-called friends, he participated in a Rape. Maybe that's the reason that even today, John can't commit to a relationship, because either the memory of that time comes back to haunt him, or the fear of what the other person would think of him if they found out. Now he's in a relationship with Rodney McKay, and what was the closest, most compensable Friendship, aspects that should have translated naturally into a Relationship, have made a painful, hate filled experience for John.
Not able to handle his feelings for Rodney McKay, or for their relationship, John Sheppard has an affair, well not an affair exactly because it's just sex, no better than what he's getting from Rodney, in actuality it's worse, but it's with a woman, and that's what John needs, to reassure his Heterosexuality, something that he's not willing to abandon. He doesn't want to be Gay, he isn't Gay, he just happens to have feelings for Rodney, and he likes to have sex with Rodney, but why does it have to be more than that. Maybe it is denial, but John loves women, and he doesn't want to give them up, even for Rodney. The problem is that Rodney catches John's indiscretion, and he's crushed, John does feel bad, and wants to explain that it doesn't mean anything, but also that can't say that it's never going to happen again. John's still not giving in to his feelings, and there's so much to work through, but now with Rodney broken-hearted, and distrustful, is that even anything that either of them want to do?

Now Rodney McKay is in that position.
Everyone is Atlantis looses their memory, and are stripped back to the basics of their of their personalities, no one knows who they are, except for John Sheppard, and Rodney McKay, because their immediate attraction to each other is enough proof to them that they're together. They don't hold back, and with nothing but instinct driving them, they jump straight into a relationship, the consequences of which they have to face when they recover their memories.
In another Dimension, the Ori discovered Pegasus, destroyed the Wraith, and enslaved the People, although they saw it as liberation from Wraith, and embraced Origin gladly. When the Expedition came to Atlantis, they were introduced to Origin, and were also converted, most of them becoming Priors, and heading back to Earth. An accident causes Prior Sheppard to change places with Sheppard from our Dimension. While the Prior sets about trying to convert everyone, McKay tries to get through to him, and in the other Dimension, John tries to get through to Prior Rodney.
Along with Rodney McKay, it was a Wraith that was caught in the Beam, and taken into the Dart, instead of Laura Cadman. What they were able to recover was the body of the Wraith, but with Rodney in control. Everyone is terrified of Rodney, he canít do anything right, especially when he accidentally starts feeding off of someone. John Sheppard is the only one to try and see through Rodneyís outward appearance, and he sees his Friend, someone that he Loves; and that maybe only now he realises exactly how much.
Well I really like the charcter of Michael Kenmore and I've been extrememly disappointed by the lack of Wraith-based stories. I challege EVERYONE to write a story either about Michael's past before he was infected with the retro-virus or about how he is now. I would like there to be snippets of his feelings while he was with the Atlanteans throughout the story. Thanks:)
Dr. Weir wasn't able to beat the Replicator Infection, and died. Everyone is numb, but the IOA don't give anyone time to grieve, and want to appoint a new leader, but everyone can agree that they don't want anyone else. Sheppard proposes that Rodney take over, since he's a civilian, and is already on Atlantis, he's eligible, and John supporting him will carry some weight. Rodney doesn't want it, and wants to know why John is steering him towards being in charge.
Sheppard is having nightmares, and panic attacks from the Wraith feeding off him. He keeps seeing himself as that old man, and is obsessively running, and training, trying to prove to himself that he's not that old man, but it's not enough, he still needs more, he needs to have sex.
In the middle of nowhere, John took over the running of his Family's Motel from his Mother, who 'lives' with him in the large house behind. John was obsessed with his Mother, and when she died, couldn't let her go, literally, keeping her body, and her alive by dressing and talking as her. When a young woman, Jeanne McKay arrives, wanting to stay in the Motel, John likes her, but his 'Mother' doesn't, and kills her. Jeanne's Brother Rodney comes looking for her, and John likes him even more, and something begins between them, but 'Mother' is just as unhappy with Rodney. (An Au version of the movie "Psycho".)
McKay asks Sheppard to turn on a device he *thinks* is supposed to help you stay awake but the Ancients never were good at labeling their toys and things always get lost in translation. Turns out, the artifact is supposed to enlighten adults to the way adolescents view the world. Soon after the device is activated, everyone in Atlantis starts to experience signs of going through puberty (acne, horniness, mood swings, and all the fun physical stuff). Major points for humor! Can include any characters, pairings, or ratings. Just for laughs.

Rodney McKay is a famous Plastic Surgeon, he's rich, naturally good-looking, and together with his Best Friend Carson Beckett; he runs one of the most exclusive Clinics in the US. Everything changes for Rodney in the form of an Air Force Officer that has survived a crash in Afghanistan, and his name is Major John Sheppard. He's been brought Home, and needs Reconstructive Surgery, and although it's not really Rodney's field, he wants to help. Rodney ends up spending all of his time with John, getting to know him, and for the first time, getting to know the person, not the appearance, he begins to fall in love with John. When the reconstruction is complete, Rodney has managed to put John back together exactly as he was, and John is stunning, the most beautiful man Rodney has ever seen, and his best work. Rodney wants to be with him, but doesn't know if John wants to be with him, because even though they've become close, John's a Straight Air Force Major, and will most likely be heading back to Afghanistan.
After the Wraith Fed upon him, Sheppard has been left feeling uneasy, something in him has changed, but he doesn't know what. Beckett can't find anything Medical; and Dr. Heightmeyer can't find anything Psychological, even though John isn't exactly open to talking to her. Maybe it's just knowing what's happened to him, but he still doesn't feel right in his own skin. Teyla tries talking to him, closer to understanding than most, but like with Heightmeyer, he doesn't actually want to talk about it. And then, what on any other day would have been a not unusual; and affectionate round of sniping and bickering with Rodney, turns into something nasty. John explodes on him, Rodney had his guard down, and isn't expecting anything like this, this aggression, and is actually pretty shaken by it, and others are too. Calming down, John knows that he needs to apologise, he wants to apologise, Rodney really is his Best Friend, and he didn't mean to hurt him. Rodney isn't holding a grudge, or being difficult, he didn't go to John, but he's worried. John finally breaks down, admits how scared he is, how scared he is that the Wraith has changed him. Rodney comforts him, he was scared too, but unexpectedly, John makes a pass at him. It's actually something that neither of them has thought about before, John hadn't been planning it, and Rodney pulls back, clearly taken aback. Now there's something very awkward hanging between them, and neither quite knows how to clear it.
