Change documentation/List of Known Errors
You should now be able to contact the admins through their user profiles as I've figured out the problem. What was turned on by default in the old version of eFiction is turned off in the latest version.

It's now turned back on again, so you can contact us with any issues as well as leaving comments on this post. Be aware, however, that we don't receive notifications for comments to news items, so if you comment after we stop checking back, we won't know about it.

I'd like to repeat Tem's thanks to aithine. She delved into the depths of eFiction code and fixed a lot of the bugs that were there, as well as making sure we didn't lose some of the things we thought were important in eFiction 1.1 but apparently weren't considered important by the current eFiction development team. She also made the whole upgrade process a heck of a lot easier, and considering how much I was tearing my hair out Friday and Saturday, that says a lot :)

That being said, I realise that some things are very new and a little confusing, and other things are cropping up as we move to a fully functioning site rather than the static test sites we've been using, so I've put together a little Change Document that combines both. Please refer to it if you have any questions on how you handle things now, or if you think there's a bug. We may already know about it.

The document is here, and I'll add to it as things crop up or other things occur to me.

Thank you for your patience.

I was working on Moments Sacred and Profane, and managed to get the three "sub series" categories into one series. I was unable to change any titles or save any changes I tried to make to categories, characters, etc. In order to get everything into the proper order, am I going to have to delete the series (losing all the reviews) and upload all the stories again in the proper order?

I'm so impressed! There have been a lot of corrections and fixes just since I looked at the site last night.

Great job!

Would kill for your updated 'upgrade' script from going from 1.1 to 3.x :) I run my own archive as well, and the loss of the 'chapter date was updated this time' was one of the major reasons I haven't gone forward. I did some testing of 3.x on my own site with about 3500 some users and 5000 stories and found the only thing which truly made our site stutter was the 'authors - all members' page. It took well over a minute for the blinking page to load, and would cause other members to time out while accessing the site at the same time. I wish you luck and I think the site looks fabulous.

Lest anyone think I'm complaining, I think the new version looks fabulous and I love the search function. I'm just having difficulties with the series stuff moving things around so everything's in the proper order.

First of all: Thanks for everything you've done and still do with this archive.

The only thing is...I've read your change document and you tell us to inform you if we can't respond to reviews... Well, that's it. I still get that error message.

New member, long time visitor of the site and I posted a story today--I realize it's still in queue for validating--however I noticed when I previewed it that the site was listing my story as part of another author's series. As it hasn't been validated yet I can't tell if that carried over into the story or if was just showing up in the preview section but I thought I would mention it. :)

Glad to see the site back. I may have missed it when I skimmed the checklist of stuff you're fixing, but here's another:

Any attempts to edit stories (I think Mice mentioned this, too) like adding to additional categories, etc. gives error "You are not authorized to access that function."

I also tried to move my "Beyond Good and Evil" into a series category since it will be a 10-parter. Same error saying I don't have authorization. =/
