Deliciously painful throughout. Poor Rodney, all his happiness shattered by one foolish mistake on John's part. I was angry with John, but I'd say he got his punishment and it was so sad to see him just as broken as Rodney, even if it was his own fault. It was a shame that it took Rodney getting trapped by an earthquake to get them talking again, but I'm glad they got things cleared up. Still, I liked that the happy ending had that edge to it, that Rodney couldn't quite make himself forget and accept John's promise, that he'd be watching John for a long time to come. I just hope that that watchfulness doesn't end up breaking them just as surely as John's cheating did. Laura.

Author's Response: I just wanted to write a happy ending that was at least halfway realistic. Glad you think it worked! :)

Oh thank God(dess)! I always worry when I hear "cheating!John but a happy ending" because so many just make Rodney a doormat. I almost thought this would be the same, but the last few sentences saved it. Thank you for being honest. Rodney will never trust John in the same way again. Your writing is SO enjoyable with imagery that seems to jump into life before my eyes. Nice work!

Author's Response: No doormat in this one. *g* And thank you very much, I'm incredibly flattered!

Author's Response: I don't think it is. Thank you for commenting!
