John Sheppard would so be a Republican. ^_^ I still remember all the military gripes when Pres. Clinton cut funding for the armed services during his terms: especially since it turns out sending cloth-covered jeeps into combat zones instead of the more expensive armored vehicles can, and did, have detrimental effects on the living of long and healthy lives for quite a few American soldiers. Not something Sheppard would find acceptable. And can anyone argue against fiscal conservatism (accept for those darn Neo-Cons)? I can see him being the apathetic voter as well; seems to come with the generation (although getting/filling out/sending an absentee ballot while in the US military is a heck of alot easier than the same for US private citizens overseas--who tend to vote more Democratic, interestingly enough). It'd be neat to see how voting goes in in the Pegasus Galaxy. Hopefully the Aussies find a way to vote in their elections(since they can get fined for failing to). Maybe the IOA has a bureaucracy set up just for forms and filings for Atlantean-Earth expatriates. Hmm... Possibilities are endless. ^_~

People should write more political stories for SGA. Sure we're in the fantasy genre for the escapism, but only fools and children (and even that's debatable)can get away with not caring about those who lead them. Thanks for the great story!!

Author's Response: Thank you very much. John's family no doubt is very Republican as well. rnrnYou raise good points. I wonder if the SGC has had a system in place for those at the Alpha site .... rnrnAussies can get fined for not voting? Bet that helps voter turnout. rn

Oh This was good, you think Rodny could get Al to send a data burst of an Inconveant Truth just for John.

Love it!

Author's Response: Oh, you know that's coming.

Why is the idea of John as a Republican more disturbing than just about anything I have ever read on this site?

Author's Response: Belamel, I have grinned at your comment all day. You're right. It is disturbing.

But, of course, we all know John was a Democrat until the Terminator ran for the governor of his state...

Author's Response: LOL! It's the first and only time he's ever agreed with his dad. ;)
