Well, so much for their courtesy mission! And so much for the pacifist Weti! That was a distressing ritual for Ronon and Rodney and, well, John and Teyla too. I loved how John covered Rodney, despite what it might mean for himself. And it meant nothing good :(. Yay for Lorne.

Laura.

Author's Response: *laughing* Oh dear yes -- short and grisly. Thanks for commenting!

I really liked this! It was a bit strange jumping back-forth between John's head and the actual goings-on but it did smack so much of something we might actually see. Very well done.

Author's Response: Thanks for persevering through the jumping-back-and-forth!

Wow, that was a very odd, interesting and detailed story. Where did you get the idea for the beatings?

Author's Response: Yes, I guess it did turn out rather oddly, didn't it?rnrnThe ritual was inspired by a rite the anthropologist William Mitchell saw ennacted by a New Guinea group. He describes it in his book, The Bamboo Fire.
