I did like Eldon, and was also disappointed that the writers didn't do anything with him. That's one of the good things about fanfic that we can save the good characters that get overlooked. Nice idea about the drills & Eldon's part. That would be an excellent time for an entire base's evacuation.

Author's Response: *nods* That's exactly why we write fanfic - so we can explore ideas that the original writers didn't touch on or to change a plot direction which we really didn't like. I'm so happy you enjoyed the story!

This was a real interesting concept. And I really liked that it was from Eldon's pov. I haven't thought of him for years. Oh, and I loved that John was wearing Rodney's pack, and that Eldon had the special evac job of getting Sheppard through the gate.

Author's Response: Heh...I'm thrilled you enjoyed it! I've been waiting for them to mention Eldon for quite some time and now that it's become clear that they probably won't, I decided to let him have his well deserved turn in the spotlight, at least for a little while.

Eldon was so sweet and was clearly a wronged man, scared and brave, Rodney would take him under his wing and help him get his confidence back.

Author's Response: I'm so happy you liked Eldon! I loved his character in Condemned and have been really sad that the writers haven't even bothered mentioning him since. I'm glad you liked the story!

aww nice story. i'm glad to read one from another persons perspective, and about an issue they've never dealt with in the show

Author's Response: *nods* I still can't believe that they've never addressed the issue of training the civilians or holding emergency drills. 'Slices of life' things tend to be too 'boring' for most people, so they don't include them, but I love things like that. It would make sense that they would have organized drills, since they've been through a lot of lockdowns, hostile takeovers, hostage situations, evacuations etc. I'm really happy you liked reading the story from Eldon's POV. It's been sad not ever having the writers mention him so I thought I'd let him have his turn in the spotlight.

I don't remember Eldon, but no matter. I very much approved of emergency drills! I don't know when this takes place, but I see that Collins (Trinity) is still alive.

Well written. Keep up the good writing!

Author's Response: Eldon was the fidgety ex-convict the team picked up in Condemned. He's the one who built the missiles the convicts launched at the jumper to get it down. Sheppard agrees to let him come back to Atlantis with them and he does....and he's never mentioned again. I have to say that while you forgot who Eldon is, I forgot who Collins is. Or rather, I didn't realize that there was an actual character with that name on the show. I just picked the name out of the sky. The story actually takes place some time in early Season 4 after they lose Weir but before they get Sam in charge.

thank you for acknowledging Eldon!! I love him! Great fic and kudos for making him the star

Author's Response: Yay! Another Eldon fan! I just loved his character in Condemned and have been quite disappointed that the writers never even mentioned him since. I wanted to explore the idea of running an emergency drill from a POV from one of the 'ordinary' folks in the city, so I decided to let our Eldon shine and picked him for the starring role. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
