I love this story and it's progression through time with the Atlantis Expedition mythology growing. The idea of Daniel's journals becoming the foremost authority on Atlantis because the military records were censored/destroyed/lost in time is very clever and a believable plot device. I like that Atlantis is a historical obsession and that beyond the fact that Sheppard shot two NID agents there is nothing concrete. Also that nothing is known about Sheppard except the bad leading to the assumption that he's a serial killer! A nice story showing how our perspective on history is deeply twisted by what little survives. It is more than simply it being written by the victors. That you finish off with history being twisted into childhood games brings it all nicely full circle with the truth of the Atlantis Expedition permanently lost to time. Very well-written and thoughtful.

I've gone over this story at least four times, and every time, something new jumps out. An outsider perspective is interesting, but the hints you drop are far more intriguing. Toran, for instance, seems to have been either directly related to the Atlantis expedition or the Toran we know. And if that's the case...what really happened?

This is an awesome story. Thank you for sharing it.

What a different take on an AU Atlantis. And we never did find out what happened to them, did we? Did you ever figure it out for your own amusement?
