Wow. This brought up all kinds of things for me - but I did really enjoy it.

Between the tears that is! :D

I would have prefer to have Rodney be there with him, sadly this is how it often happens though. You come in alone, you leave alone.

Author's Response: I know. It was personal to me, as well. My grandpa had a great day with my grandma on the Gulf, fishing and boating. He felt kinda tired, so they came in early. he showered, sat down on the sofa to watch tv, grandma went in to shower, and while she was gone, grandpa just left - he had a massive coronary. My grandma came out and found him dead on the sofa. rnrnSo, yeah. I cried writing it. I'm sorry it triggered memories for you, but I thank you for letting me know that you read and liked it despite the emotions it raised. *hugs*

Oh, how sad. :-( Poor Rodney. Nicely written.

Author's Response: Meep! I know it's sad, but they had a life together, and...and...no. I have no excuse, other than to say this one was cathartic for me. :)

An amazingly satisfying read. I guess I really needed a good cry. Thanks.

Author's Response: Well, I hope it was a good cry, cuz otherwise, that would suck. Thanks for reading and I'm glad you're satisfied. :) I promise, my stories aren't usually so sad.

So sad and moving with out being over dramatic. I like that John went this why.

Author's Response: I wanted it to be bare bones, just...like a regular day and then, the end. so that you liked it and it moved you without being overly dramatic pleases me. Means I did what I set out to do. And yeah, This is how I'd like for John to leave this world, too. Peaceful, loved, at rest.
