Oh, this was simply fantastic! There is so much to admire about this story, but I think the thing I find most impressive is the slow unraveling of the mystery of John's damage, of who he was and how he came to be where he is now, and the equal pace of Evan's patient pursuit, the way the two are gradually revealed in inverse parabola, so that as John starts to let go of one thing, he starts to open to another. I also find the thoroughness of detail in John's emotional state to be both impressively accurate AND not overdone. There's a fine balance there, and you maintain it throughout. Finally, I just adore the way you've written every single character, but I especially enjoyed Ronon and Woolsey. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

This was wonderful. Angsty and heartbreaking, but wonderful.

Poor John. Lauren really messed him up, whether she meant it or not. I'm glad John was too 'cowardly' to follow her straight away. I'm glad he gave himself the chance to make new friends, find a new life and a new love.

It was lovely to see how everyone cared about him, how worried Rodney and Carson were, how quickly Ronon took to him and how easily Evan fell in love with him, despite John's best efforts.

I loved the band and how Evan found a way to talk to John through the songs. I liked Richard being such a good friend. I loved that Carson was able to fix John's leg and John was able to get so much of Atlantis working.

I loved the quiet moments between John and Evan, or when John talked with Carson or Rodney and I liked seeing him with the teams and with his scientist friends, no longer quite so alone.

So yes, excellent story!

Laura.

Author's Response: Hey, (again!). Glad you liked this one, too. I wasn't so sure about this story, but it seems to have turned out alright. =) Poor John is certainly the right sentiment. But there is a little hope at the end... I think. Lol. I'm so glad you liked the band/songs. Music is the way I feel things the most, I think, and it seemed just so natural to include it. I haven't gotten much feedback on it yay or nay, so I'll take that as a good sign. It's reassuring that someone liked it. =) And yay for Richard! I loved him, and think too often he's sorta hated on in fic, so I wanted to take his character and turn it into someone that people might like. Thanks for reading. =) Cheers, Ace

At first I didn't know what to think; but as it kept going it got better and better.

Fantastic writing and brilliant ending!

Author's Response: Thanks. And I think most people felt that way... I think I felt that way. Lol. Glad you enjoyed it, though. Cheers, Ace
