Great story, though I couldn't help still finding it sad despite John's happiness and the hopeful ending. He's not the team leader anymore, despite the device that lets him see, and that just broke my heart. I know that's not the point of the story, but I would love to read a sequel where John does get his sight back. But I still really enjoyed this, especially how Teyla and Rodney were the only ones who didn't treat John with pity. My favourite scenes, though--aside from the kiss, of course --was Rodney's reaction to the operation, and Kavanagh telling John about his deaf sister. All in all this was fascinating and very moving. Well done.

Author's Response: Leah, your "Balcony Sessions" were one of the things that made me fall for the McShep pairing, so thank you! At the moment, there are no plans for a sequel, but I can easily see Rodney and John exploring Atlantis together where it won't matter that he is dependent on Atlantis' eyes.

Well, YAY for Rodney and his genius brain :). I'm glad that John can see again, and still fly...and that he got together with Rodney too :). I'm also pleased that he didn't take Kavanagh's option- you never know, they might find something to repair the nerves in all the Ancient stuff lying around. And until then, he's got Rodney's device to keep him going. Laura.

Author's Response: Thanks! Somehow I am absolutely certain that John will deal with his situation either way, and since Rodney will be by his side...
