I really liked this, especially when Rodney sensed the creature's emotions, as it were, and how they mirrored his own.

Great little look at Rodney's thoughts during this. You caught his mix of grand self-importance and big lack of self-confidence exactly *g*. I'm glad he was able to strike 'alone' from his list at the end. Laura.
