Very nice characterisation here. I loved how John cut through Rodney's need to fix everything (or hide, as it's otherwise known) and how he reacted to Rodney's rush of emotion with his own little giving-too-much-away revelation. I especially liked that he told Rodney that but lied to Elizabeth, it shows the friendship they share; that they can open up to each other in ways they can't with anyone else because they know the other will understand. It was a relief to see the banter kicking back in. Laura.

Author's Response: Thank you for such detailed feedback. You actually mentioned all of the things that I love about this story. I'm thrilled beyond words.

This was great! I loved Rodney fixing things. And that startled step John took was very striking. And his speech I know I've heard part that in a movie a couple times. I just can't remember which one. Very nice.

Author's Response: I have a feeling it's the Obligatory Be A Sensible Hero speech that occurs in every military film. And thank you.

*snicker* And why do I chortle at the mere thought of Rodney donning the uniform of the Canadian version of Boy Scouts? *snickersnort* See? Great job. ----}-@ Krys

Author's Response: *sniggers* That's a very amusing mental image. (And thanks for commenting.)
