*chuckle* Wonder what the condom and lube are for, hmmm? Betcha John's got some 'Who's Kirk now?' jibe germinating in his fluffy head. ;) Great job, m'dear. ----}-@ Krys

Author's Response: Thanks, actually I can hear John (drunkenly, confidentially) asking Rodney if the Inspirals are as good as they say they are, and wanting details. And possibly a test drive. :P

I hereby endorse Laura's efforts to get more about this. We see a small realization, but no consequences, and not much indication what shape the consequences will take.

Author's Response: Thanks, and yes, the realization is small. Sheppard has twenty years experience in compartmentalizing public vs. private, and in schooling his reactions to new information. I suspect he's all for maintaining the status quo -- at least until Rodney gets so far under his skin that he can't stand it anymore.

Geez just how big are his pockets? *grins* Cute story. I love how Rodney has a condom and lube in his pocket. Hee. And the last line about preferences just set me off. *laughs* Great work. *grins* *glomps* *waves*

Author's Response: Thanks, I'm glad this worked for you! The pockets surprised me, actually. Some styles of tac-vests have as many as ten pockets. BDU pants have seven, including fob pocket. His jacket probably has 3, assuming one inside-pocket. I doubt he has stuff in ALL the pockets, but I'm sure he likes to feel prepared. I realize now that I totally forgot his epipen. Maybe it got dropped in the armory with his tablet and sidearm. :P

I'm with Laura on this. Very compelling. I like that it is so cryptic. You're ability to tell us so much in so few words is great. Thanks!

Author's Response: Thanks, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

This was great in and of itself, but there's so much going on underneath too. How did Rodney end up all algae-fied? And theres that tension from Rodney- simple reaction to events, or worried about what John would make of certain items in his pockets? What *does* John make of them? He seemed pretty unconcerned. I'd love to see this expanded to examine this ::hands you cookies as incentive *g*:: Laura.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad this captured your imagination. It was unusual for me to write something where other people deal with Rodney's physical discomfort and his annoyance/guilt over being responsible for cutting short a mission. As an inventory of personal items is something one would do for a dead man, I suspect catching John in the act made him even angrier...even though John's motivation is simple concern. :D It's interesting to see how much can be shown in 450 words of limited pov, especially the pov of a character so adept at never confessing his feelings about anything. *g*
