As a Christian, I find this story fascinating. I have always thought that the Wraith are not "evil" so much as "different." They can't help the fact they feed off humans. And if God chooses to redeem one, well, He works in mysterious ways.

Author's Response: That's true. They are not evil, and don't kill humans out of sadistic pleasure, like humans often do. Another thing, if someone would try to eat me, I would try to kill it right back, but if humans would be my only food source, Id kill and eat them without a second thought.

I agree that the "as weird as I want" line is priceless. This was a refreshing change from the average tale.

Author's Response: Thank you.

I don't necessarily think religious people would be offended. Although I'm not a Christian, it seems like a respectful treatment of Christian beliefs. And you're right -- who among us doesn't wish they had someone waiting on the other side?

Author's Response: Thank you. Beatrice Otter (who edited this story) is Christian. And she warned me that a lot of rather vulgar flame-wars started from innocent stories like this one. I am baptized as Orthodox Christian, and personally I do not think that representing God as very responsible being of unconditional kindness is insulting for any Christian. But you never know - there are all sorts of people out there.

“I am God. I can be as weird as I want!” That is the best set of lines. "God" won't be defined by any human, Wraith or other creature and it's "us" who are providing the definition. Wonderfully complex and insightful. Thanks.

Author's Response: Thank you. I always thought that every religion somehow limits God. And if we would assume that God is the sum of self-conscious energy fields of the Multiverse (and humans or Wraith represent only the miniscule portion of those fields) God can truly be what he wants.

Smiling.. a wicked smile: “You are weird. ” Very original. I like the concept. :)

Author's Response: Thank you. It is possible that poor thing was not hungry for the first time in his (almost said 'life'). And I wish somebody like that would be waiting for me on the other side (sigh).
