From the first time I heard the line in the episode, this is something of what I was thinking. The idea popped into my head and I hoped that someone else would pick up on it and write a story. Then I found this and fell in love. And...it's been so long for an update. I'm addicted to your story...you enabled me and now you're taking it away! *cries* *looks pitiful* heh

It's a good thing that Radek is such a good friend - one who's willing to tell the hard truth, too, if necessary.

Ouch! That was hard. But so very human. Poor Carson.

I've wanted to write a fic about that line since the first time I heard it, but I never got around to it because I didn't think I could do it justice. This does it justice. Excellent.

An interesting story concerning a line in the show that I too felt might have history behind it. Of course, it could have meant that Carson's worked with drug addicts and seen withdrawal before, but there was definitely a hint that it might be something more personal. I was thinking that if he were an alcoholic - then why did they let him come to Atlantis? But then I remembered - ATA gene! If they Sheppard with his black mark come, then why not a recovering alcoholic who discovered the gene in the first place? I liked that it was Radek (who was at first an unwitting enabler) who was there for Carson. Keep writing!
