oh that was so sad. I hope that rodney's wrong about how his team feels and finds that sequel?

Man, oh man, this story was great. I also thought that the underwear story went a bit too far. The hopeful look Rodney got on his face when he thought that it might have happened to Ronon as well practically killed me. My family moved around a lot when I was younger and I was the butt of many jokes, so I felt for Rodney and, because of this story, I'm grateful once again that my mother listened to me and didn't make me skip half of fourth grade and all of fifth.

Ouch, that was painful, especially because it was accurate. The team did act as if they preferred Rod, and the last scene rang false for me, as if they were just humoring Rodney. And yes, the story about the underwear on his head was the kind of humiliation that no one ever forgets, or ever really gets over.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for writing this. I too thought the underwear joke went far into cruel. I can't imagine anyone thinking that would be funny for Rodney. Having Ronon make light of it was just wrong. I felt exactly the same for Rodney and despite how it ended, I wasn't convinced by their 'platitudes' either. Maybe if it was presented better it might have come across as genuine. As it was, it meant nothing. Great piece in such a short space. Thank you for putting into words what bothered me the most about the whole episode.

Author's Response: The episode rubbed me the wrong way too. I felt icky after it ended like I had swallowed a bitter pill, which I thought Rodney might have felt too. I'm glad you enjoyed the piece.
