I really liked this story (but really hate the idea of Atlantis no longer being home to the guys). From what the last cliffhanger ep showed, your story looks spot on for how the characters are reacting to being kicked out of Atlantis. Loved the interaction with little Madison and how doing something normal, like spending Christmas with family, is so unusual for John and Rodney.

I LOVE you. BUNCHES. I just love everything about this, the stealing, John's angst, and wanting to flee, and not doing it. Awesome.

One of the best fics I've read in a while.
Wonderful story. I wasn't happy with SGC's treatment of John, no matter what Cameron said it was about. It certainly seemed like make-work and we know that the brass never liked him. Why did no one ask whether he wanted to be weaned in? I loved the Christmas visit to Jeannie's. There was so much going on emotionally: John's happiness and contentment at being there, being loved, bing appreciated and not shoved off in a corner somewhere; but all coupled with the darker emotions, the freaking out, the fear of messing it all up because he's not very good at relationship stuff, the indecision about going back or not. I loved Jeannie's talk with John, opening his eyes a bit. I also loved, well, all the John/Rodney interaction actually, but specifically the moments such as John stealing the toy on a dare and the post-theft visit to the hotel room :). It really spoke of that final level of committment that John trusted Rodney enough to let him top and then managed to just about hang onto his sanity and not bolt afterwards. I'd love to know just why Elizabeth wasn't answering her phone. I'd also love to know what Landry's decision was, though it's sufficient to know that John wasn't going to allow himself to be kept from Rodney's side from now on. Excellent characterisation throughouta dn a great plot. Laura.
Yay! I loved how John worked through everything that happened to reach the point he did. I think there's a chance for a happy future for them. Thanks!

That was a very sweet story. It's heartbreaking the "what could have been" for Return, part I. The paths you've chosen for the characters are very fitting, though. I can totally see the SGC trying to cut Sheppard a break, but that only making him feel like they're handling him with kid gloves. And the slow relaization that John and Rodney are in an honest-to-God real relationship is perfect. Excellent work here.
