I love this. I love his stilted, abandoned half-sentences. I love seeing everything he isn't saying; it's heartbreaking. I think my favourite was "Find joy. Wait. Don't. Remember." I also like the idea that they're refugees; it really reinforces the idea that Atlantis is their home, now, not Earth.

I also like the bit about the coffee crisis; it is amusing and reminds me of other fics that describe the original members of the expedition as being squirrelly about food. Although the personnel at the SGC can understand going to other planets, fighting aliens, finding new-old technology, they cannot understand the isolation, the dependency on a world too far away, the forced independence, the sheer *lack* of...of familiar food, of coffee, of safety.

This was beautiful, emotive, and very well-written. Thank you for sharing it with us.

This is a very clever idea. To be honest, I didn't get it at first with the italics as the real letter, but once I's brilliant! My favorite part, though? They haven't found all my knives yet. -- McKay's not a genius for nothing. Great work here!
