Oh. Oh, how *lovely*. The desperation and need and sheer *caring* come through so starkly that it's painfully beautiful to read. John does tension and distress so silently and so well, I can understand Rodney treating him with the same care as an unstable Ancient artifact - he is one, given his gene! Lovely, Madison.
Author's Response: I was going for an exercise in imagery and impressions, so I\'m very pleased to hear that it worked to some degree! John is so much fun to hurt...as long as I remember to make him all better at the end with Rodney\'s help. :-) Thanks!
I liked this very much. There is a tendency for the 'redshirts' in the background to be treated as nameless grunts, and I like very much that John calls the scientists on it. His passion and anger are very well done.
Author's Response: This came about because of the writers/TPTB tendency to marginalize the military (ironic, huh?), sometimes blatantly, on both SG1 and Atlantis. I worried that I might be going over the top with this, but it seems to have worked out. Thank you for taking the time to let me know you enjoyed it; it makes my muse very happy.
Ive already told you how much I love fics where John and Rodney are on earth (preferably confounding John's family) and this pressed all the right buttons. And it's hawt. Still love it.
Author's Response: It was so nice of you to tell me again! For a story that I thought was going no where at first, this one has really grown on me. Thank you!
Summary: Atlantis needs a Rodney McKay. They just don't know that yet.
The warnings are here mostly for safety. This story is darker than my usual fare, but I still firmly believe in the happy ending. There is the death of a major AU character off-screen.
This is my favourite Big Bang - and favourite of yours, so far. I love this imperfect, damaged pair who slowly come to find peace with each other. Beautiful.
And that exchange about revenge at the end? Still priceless!
Author's Response: Still have a big ol\' fat grin plastered to my face here as well. Thank you!
