Summary: Addictions, religious zealots, Dream Machines and Wraith! Ronon hasn't found a home in Atlantis, yet. And perhaps he never will. A Ronon-centric story—and a heavy McKay B-plot--with lots of team goodness and whump to go around.

This is really cool. I keep waiting for someone to sit up and pay attention, but that's the problem with trusting people.... you trust them.

People on wraithbait are so fucking lazy about reviewing. I was glad to see you're up to 72 on FF.net, because this story deserves it. Very interesting development with the planetary politics.

Author's Response: Oh, I don\'t mind about the reviews so much. Although your feedback has warmed my heart because I thought maybe nobody liked the story. I\'m glad that you are enjoying reading it. Part I is almost completely posted here. Then on to Part II. Thank you for your feedback. I really do appreciate it.

Oh John, your trust is SO misplaced!
Chapter 8: Part I, Chapter 8

Summary: Written for the Out of Body Experience Challenge. It was a Wraith stuck in the dart with Rodney instead of Laura Cadman. It's the Wraith's body they bring out, with Rodney in control. How will Rodney cope now that everyone is terrified of him? Spoilers up to "Duet".

Hee! Even as just a one shot that works.

Author's Response: Ha ha, that might be the case but I\'d feel bad leaving Rodney there. Thanks! ^^\r\n\r\nAimee

Colonel Sheppard's clipped voice announcing, "Attention all expedition personnel. This is Rodney McKay"

I think you made a little error there. I'll do a proper review tomorrow, but I've been staying up till two finishing this :). I'll need to let it sink in a bit first, because Jeez, you didn't pull any punches and this was some amazing reading.

Author's Response: Wooops. That\'s what I get for making last minute changes. It\'s all fixed now, thank you.
Chapter 1: Judas Doesn't Answer

Okay proper review. That ending absolutely KILLED me! Rodney knows, so I hope he won't take anything at face value even if his instincts tell him too (with Rodney it can go either way). He better inform Teyla and Ronon, because throughout the story they kept turning to John with critical info, even though Rodney was in charge and that could be a real problem.
At first I thought it was odd John ran, but after that final twist, yeah, makes perfect sense.

When I came to the bit where they found a woman's body, I first assumed it was Markov and that Radek was going to be in trouble. Then it turned out you killed ELIZABETH and I had to adjust my entire brain. And you had that cute Rodney/Liz interaction right before and everything! Then for a while I wondered if she got hit by one of those flying beasts, but it really was Lee. Very believable and incredibly petty.

All our usual heroes got tainted. Keller playing God (I really bought her characterization, which hit all the things we've learned about her so far). The comic relief turning into a killer and poor lonely Elizabeth risked everything and got duped by a spy (as did Rodney). And of course John being Skorpion...

Great work. It really is one of those fandom gems.
Chapter 1: Judas Doesn't Answer

Summary: By the time John was thirty-five and stepping through the Stargate into a new galaxy, he'd had a lot of sex without a lot of effort.

You really can fit two grownups on one of those sleds (I tested it with my cousin), but only if one of the two is half standing, half balancing on the other's knee. Great rid though ;). And great fic.

Chapter 1: The One His Parents Forgot

Summary: Sentinels and Guides come in matched pairs, one near-perfect Guide for each Sentinel. Of course, things are never that easy for Sentinel Rodney McKay, though. He didn't find his Guide as a youth, and by the time he's in his forties, it doesn't seem like there's any chance. (Sentinel fusion ... kind of)

I've seen this prompt filled several times, but this was the best version by far! I love Sentinel fusions, but I must admit I never liked the whole sentinel bonding premise.

Your writing was good enough to get me past that here though. Your Rodney and John had enough awareness to have issues with the way their society works, which I think is pretty similar to real life where people don't just take injustices or limits lying down. I loved Rodney's unwillingness to hold control over someone's life even though it was his legal right and that John wasn't hunky dory with giving up his life.
I did wonder why they have those laws if chemical bondage fixes everything, but I'm guessing guides with less stable bonds might not have the same 'easy' transition John had.

My only niggle was that O'Neill seemed just a little too invested in his subordinates sex-lives... :)

Author's Response: Wow, that is a huge compliment, right there! Yes, I don\'t think a happy go lucky we\'re suddenly bonded to a stranger but don\'t care much about it fic would have been a really good idea. In fact, they have those laws because while you notice that John does feel \"like coming home\" or \"content\" to be with Rodney, he still has the ability to be very very angry with him - for example. the bond does work to a certain degree, but not further. And while it certainly ENCOURAGES the Guides to care for their mates and interact with them, let\'s face it till the moment they bond they are literally strangers. And usually, even if you are turned on by someone or feeling protective about someone, that doesn\'t mean you are inclined to give up your life as you know it for them. Not even for a bit of a chemical reaction the bond provides. John also makes it very clear the bond didn\'t make him gay or that he only has sex with Rodney because of the bond. And John\'s mother, who might have suspected John is a Guide, wouldn\'t have tried to protect him from having to lead such a life if not somewhere deep down she might have felt something amiss with her own life. So no, the bond is not the answer to everything and someone who just recently bonded and doesn\'t have a real emotional connection to the Sentinel he or she is bonded to might not want to follow up on the suggestions of the bond and might just walk away, leaving the Sentinel to die. That is why they had needed laws. It sucks, yes, but it is the way it is handled in this AU. *wink* Or at least the way it WAS until John and Rodney turned everything upside down. As for O\'Neill ... if you were expecting more of an \'ewwwww\' reaction I have to disappoint you. I\'m very certain Jack\'s doing Daniel *innocent look* Thank you for your lovely review
