I've been a fan of Stargate SG-1 since the beginning, and was happy to learn it was going to spawn a spin-off. What I didn't know was that I was going to love the spin-off even more than the original. Rodney McKay has a lot to do with that.

I've written fanfiction for the past couple of years in the Buffyverse centering on the character of Spike. McShep is all shiny and new to me. It was love at first sight.

That was wonderful. I felt for Rodney, realizing how happy he'd been in his dream, but feeling that he would never have that in real life. John's wanting him without even realizing it was also touching. The ending left me with a big smile on my face.

Author's Response: Thank you! I felt for Rodney, too. There was no way the story couldn't have a happy ending, because he deserved one. /g/ Thank you for your comments. I'm glad you liked it.

As much as I enjoyed *The Blessing*, I'm very glad you wrote this wonderful sequel that explored more fully the emotional trauma that Rodney and John both went through. I love Aliens made them do it stories with all my heart, but most (mine included) are done very tongue in cheek. To see one that explores the concept that this is actually *rape* and does it so very well was very satisfying. I also loved the way you wrote Bates. Too often he is treated as if he is a hard-nosoed bigot, when in fact he is merely doing the job he was trained for. And that means putting aside warm fuzzy feelings, trusting no one that wasn't vetted by his superiors back home, and preparing for the worst case scenario. Having him be that one that protects and defends Rodney - even knowing that Rodney and John have very likely entered into a homosexual relationship - made me very glad. I hope that you do write another sequel to this after we see Siege 3. I look forward to it.

Author's Response: Thanks, Sandy :-) I had intended to be tongue in cheek when I started out with the challenge but Rodney didn't find it so funny. I figured Bates needed to be a hero for a change. As you said, he's a soldier doing the job he was trained to do and, more often, he is right. Must be very frustrating for him but he has sworn to protect *his people* and that means stepping in to save any of them who have bene placed in danger, and most especially Rodney as he is more than just his CO's friend and (possible) lover, he is also the most important scientist on Atlantis. I bet Bates argued against Rodney being allowed off Atlantis on *any* missions!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The dialogue was both funny and touching. The action was great and the Kavanagh abuse was a nice touch. :) A really great story.

Very nicely done. That scene was just calling for fic to be written about it and you've done it perfectly. And I appreciated the way you handled the whole gun contretemps with John listening and then giving Rodney his gun so Rodney would be safe.

I usually only read McShep, but the summary for this story intrigued me. I waited until it was finished to read, and I'm very glad I did, because I would have hated to wait to find out what happened next. This was a fascinating story with exciting action, an excellent plot, and great character voices. Your Jack was just marvelous, and reminded me why I miss him so much on SG-1. I look forward to reading your next story.

I seldom read WIPs but I started this one without realizing it wasn't complete and totally got pulled in. I have to say that I'm very concerned over your Sheppard. He's acting completely non-Sheppardlike and definitely needs to talk to Kate. I love Rodney on Loren's team, and in fact, I love Lorne's team. That they took to Rodney so quickly was great to see and someting Rodney sorely needed. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: I'm working on the John and Kate meeting right now. I hope you like what I end up with! Thanks for taking the chance on my WIP.

I've been reading each chapter eagerly as it appears, and I do believe this was a favorite chapter so far. I really loved pissed-off Rodney and then their session in Kate's office was very well done. I'm looking forward eagerly for the next chapter.

Author's Response: Well, you have to wait no longer, I'm posting Chapter 6 right now. Now I just have to think of a name for it....

I really like the two OCs you created and loved Sophie's meeting with Elizabeth. John's jealousy still needs to be dealt with though. I'm really looking forward to when Rodney finally discovers John's true feelings for him. Looking forward to the next chapter. I have a feeling that the Corvalans are going to find out they have a tiger by the tale with our Sophie. :)

Author's Response: Ah Sophie. I love her, too. I like Titan as well of course, but since I'm a woman I just feel like I can write Sophie better I guess. John and Rodney are going to have plenty of together time during this latest crisis to be awkward and silly. It'll be such fun to write!

I have to be perfectly honest that I skipped this story because I just couldn't see Kavanagh/McKay (even though I don't hate Kavanagh like so many do). However, when I saw you had written a McShep sequel, I had to read this one, and I'm very glad I did. This was a wonderfully written angst-fill story, showing the mistakes that can be made when people are in life-or-death situations. I really liked it a lot.

Author's Response: Thank you! It was written in response to a McKay/Kavanagh request on a secret santa list. It's clear from the episodes that McKay has no great love of Kavanagh but fear and exhaustion can make for poor judgment and mistakes.

Really excellent story with great McKay characterization. You showed his, uh, *determination* (*g*) without making him too over-the-top. I also liked the way you handled John's reawakening memories. I look forward to reading more from you.

Author's Response: Oh, really glad McKay worked for you! Such a lovely man, and so tough to capture.

While I've been checking diligently for updates of Second Fiddle, I'll certainly take wonderful fics like this in the meantime. :)

I normally try not to read wips because so often they're abandoned by the author before they're complete, but I figured with fourteen chapters invested, you were in for the long haul. :) I'm very glad I started to read this because it's absolutely wonderful. The entire plot is amazing and really leaves you wondering just *how* this city came to be along with all the other surprises such as the art and literature from modern Earth and the very specific furnishings of Daniel and Radek's quarters. I'm also very glad that I'm no longer so invested in SG-1 that I care about spoilers because I would have hated to have to stop reading this. :) I'm really looking foreward to the next chapters and watching the relationships grown and unfold. I'm especially enjoying John and Rodney's relationship.

Author's Response: I'm glad you're enjoying it. :) I'm definitely in for the long haul on this story, and know exactly where it is going. By the end you'll have answers for exactly where the city came from, and for all the strange things they've been finding, including the modern art and the furnishings of Daniel and Radek's quarters. Additional chapters will be posted soon. :)

Oh, just wonderful. I liked how you showed Kavanagh's regret that he'd been such a pig with McKay, and then John finally accepting and allowing Rodney to see just how much he wanted him. The resultant 'date' was everything I could have wanted. Very nicely done.

Author's Response: Thank you :-) I figured John knew Rodney well enough to recognize his unease and show him that they were friends as well as potential lovers.
