Okay, I'm female, 32 and live in Leicester, UK. Big fan of sci-fi in general and obviously Atlantis :). I'm also a huge slash fan. I'll read anyone with Sheppard...does that make me a Shepslut? I particularly like John/Carson and John/Rodney, and better yet John/Carson/Rodney mmmmm. Edited to add Radek...John/Radek or John/Radek in a threesome (or even foursome) with Carson or Rodney *vbg*.

Oh, and Lorne, as well ;).

Very nice! I liked the way we gradually learned about what Radek had done and how it had affected John and the others, and how they were back on Earth now. I loved the emotional stuff: Radek's shocked pleasure at seeing John again, mixed with guilt for both the original chair business and leaving him. Plus there was John's hope that Radek would let him stay, and his anger at Radek leaving in the first place. It was nice to see some humour too, just enough to lighten the tone a little, and I was pleased when Radek said John could stay. I also liked the little bit about English now being John's second language, and felt his relief at finally being able to understand it again, as well as his being free at last now he wasn't in the Air Force any longer. This packed a lot of stuff into a relatively short space, and I must also mention that I really believed they had been together, especially that little section where Radek knows that John is angry by his little body language cues. There isn't enough John/Radek fic, so it was nice to see this. Laura.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you! You give a great review. :) I'm so happy to see what you enjoyed and why it worked for you. Thanks again!

Ok, so, John trusts Rodney- never stopped in fact. Now he just needs to *tell* Rodney that :). I thought John's dream was very interesting and wonder what it means. I also liked that little thought about how this desert reminded him of Afganistan. It was a nice link to his past. Laura.

I loved this. It was nice seeing the guys get a little time to just take in the scenery and indulge in a little teasing :). I loved how nothing was as it seemed, was darker than imagined...a theme for this story. First, the story itself was not as it seemed, lulling me into a false sense of security and suddenly snatching it away and turning into frightening violence. Then there was the spider and the butterflies being the polar opposite of what was expected (Ew, btw *g*). And then we have John. As Rodney thought, he puts on the cheery front to hide the darker, more serious part of himself. I liked the way you wrote both John's dropping of his mask, his momentary inability to deal with yet another nice thing turning bad; and Rodney's reaction to this John. His need to get the facade back in place because he can deal with deadly butterflies, but not a damaged John. A really great look at both characters. Laura.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you very much. I'm much pleased you liked it. I was laughing to myself because I'd just been part of a discussion of themes, and claimed I never paid attention to them, but I like your take on the one for this story. I think the whole shiny veneer over a darker body is very much a theme of the show, too, which will be all pretty, with a little snark and humor, and then, wham, space vampires. --Rodney's reaction to this John-- He definitely doesn't want to have to be the strong one, even though he has the ability. They're both such woobies. ;) --Ew, btw-- *snicker* Mucho thankses for this. :D

*vbg* This was great, and a nice pick-me-up after I just finished reading sad!fic. I love the whole concept of geeks in their natural habitat, and Rodney's casual remark about deciding on lab space had me imagining all sorts of stuff :). I was also amused by John recognising the equation...he'd better watch that he doesn't get sucked into geekdom *g*. Laura.

Author's Response: Glad I could be of service! And thanks for the review, it works both ways, this was a real *pick-me-up* for me! Thanks again!

It's so very reassuring that the 'beauty parlour' didn't clean up Rodney's snark gene *g*. Laura.

It hurt to see this Rodney. So certain that everyone would be pleased to see the back of him :(. I'm glad John escaped Carson, even if he did end up doing himself more harm; it at least gave him and Rodney a chance to talk. I loved their friendship, Carson's too, all looking out for each other. I'm glad that that ultimately kept Rodney where he should be, and that John's better...even if he *is* restrained *g*. You'd think he'd know not to cross Carson by now ::rolls eyes::. Laura.

Heeeee! Oh, men and their not-reading of instructions. It's so funny, and probably quite true, that even Rodney the genius can't build it :). At least John had enough sense to ask about reading the instructions...pity it didn't occur to him to read them secretly while Rodney was struggling *g*. Thank heavens for Elizabeth and Teyla...and just imagine the teasing it's going to cause *vbg*. Laura.

Author's Response: Thanks. It's true. No matter how smart the man, he always crumples in teh face of instructions. At least it's true in my experience. I cna SO imagine Teyla and Liz having a laugh with that

This was great. You did a really good job with John's fight for rationality and everyone elses complaining at the unfairness of being sent to their respective corners. I especially liked the way Rodney got around John's determination with the whole not-actually-touching thing...he's a genius you know! *g*. Laura.

Author's Response: I'm happy you liked it and I'm especially glad that John's fight for rationality worked for you. Thank you!

At first, I was a little concerned at John fantasising about a turkey sandwich...this is not normal, I thought to myself. But then the whole burning turkey/wine and beer/sandwich/sex thing happened and completely changed my mind *vbg*. Love this threesome too :). Laura.

Author's Response: Well, John's just a little bit kinky, and he's got this...oral fixation. Which eventually leads him to doing a lot of weird things, not that he really minds. *g* Thanks.

*blinks* I really don't know where to start as this was all so good. The story was interesting throughout, and also scary at times. I thought it was a very clever plot and was impressed by the twists. I had a bad feeling about Datanunana (is that the right spelling?). It struck me as odd that she went after Rodney so singlemindedly and always when John was elsewhere or otherwise engaged. It was especially worrisome once she started trying to convince Rodney to ascend. The revelation of what she was was quite spectacular, in a disturbing sort of way. I also loved the John/Rodney friendship that went from strength to strength as they fought to find a way off the city. Yes, they snarked and fought and got quite sharp at times, but that's nothing new, and they did also reveal quite serious things about themselves too. I loved that John forced Rodney to acknowledge that he cared, and I loved seeing how much John cared too, especially towards the end when he desperately kept hold of Rodney's arms and eyes to stop him agreeing to the ascension. It was also interesting to see Elizabeth's struggle to remain the leader and not allow the worry for her friends to take over, all whilst dealing with her 'death' and the issues surrounding that. Carson was great, knowing when she needed a friend and when she needed a doctor. So, all in all, a great story and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of that final TBC :). Laura.

Excellent continuation of the story. Poor Rodney, having so much trouble sleeping :(. I'm glad John, Radek and Carson are trying to help him, I just wish he'd let them. I'm worried about his sleep walking. The confrontations between Rodney and John were very tense and I'm glad John knew it was because of Rodney's exhaustion and was able to rein in his own anger. I can't wait to see what comes of this possible saboteur. And I'm also keen to see how Rodney is after being rescued. Laura.

Two more great chapters. Poor Rodney, he really is getting to the end of his rope now isn't he? :(. I'm glad John went to see Kate- even if she didn't help him the way he wanted, she has pointed out his own failings in helping Rodney and I hope it will get him to try harder. He has at least admitted his part in making Rodeny keep quiet. I was pleased that Rodney went to see Teyla and that she was able to help him a little. I just hope that they will be able to get Rodney to open up soon. I really do think that John will be able to help if he puts his mind to it, after all, he was with Rodney on the not-Atlantis and they seemed to get pretty close then. I'm a little worried about Carson inducing sleep though, I can see it ending badly when you consider that the pills have made things worse for Rodney. Fingers crossed it all works out soon. Laura.

Author's Response: You give such wonderful reviews, I love reading them! Thank you very, very much!! *huge grin*

Lovelovelove this chapter. The reason that John is pushing so hard against his friendship with Rodney is finally out in the open and I was sad for his feelings of guilt and that he'd had a moment of wanting to hurt Rodney, but I was happy that it also made him say out loud that they were friends. Teyla always seems to know just what to say to make people understand themselves better. And poor Rodney :(. I knew sedating him would turn out to be bad and it was. Lets hope that John decides to help...I'm assuming that the familiar voice was his? Laura.

I'm glad Rodney's finally had some proper sleep, especially after his violent outburst and the unhappy concern from Carson at the beginning. I just hope it's revived him enough to start sorting things out. I was intrigued by John's theory about the power drain being stored up. It must have something to do with Datanunana, right? I'm concerned by the flowers too...just what is going on? I can't wait to find out. Laura.

*meep* Oh, poor John and Rodney. This was very tense and disturbing (and to think I'm a big fan of John/Rodney normally g*), you really caught Rodney's fear and horror as well as John's shock when he got his body back. I really hope this will bind them closer together and not drive a wedge between them, they need each other's help now I'd imagine, not just Rodney needing John's anymore. The only plus point I can see is that now John can't put Rodney's 'episodes' down to him going crazy and they can really focus on the problem. Laura.

No no no, John. I'd so hoped that he knew he was 'possessed' and that it wasn't some previously unknown character flaw :(. Lets hope he figures it out quickly. And where's Rodney got too now? ::is concerned::. It was good to see Ford so concerned and wanting to help. Laura.
